Both are similar, yet have their differences. When I contemplate comfort, I tend to think about the sofa, the bed, my office chair, and even several aspects of work. Thinking of familiarity is a bit different. I think of people, eateries, and other places.

During a conversation with another expat yesterday, I explained this entire experience has been uncomfortable. I explained being away from everything that I’d become comfortable with was stressful. I explained being away from all the things I’d become familiar with raised my anxiety levels. I also explained that adaptability and flexibility were essential traits over the last few years.

He agreed. He’d been living abroad for decades. One country or another, he’s not lived in America for decades.

Upon reflection, one of the things offering solace is writing. It’s a respite from the unfamiliar. A retreat from those uncomfortable things as I’m able to sink into my thoughts. When I’m at my keyboard, all’s well. The row of home keys hasn’t changed. Grammar is the same. Punctuation and syntax stand firm, as they’ve always been.

Immersing myself into an activity is a great way to alleviate stress. It affords me the chance to not think about factors beyond my control.

Today, Tuesday, July 27, 2021, I am grateful that:
I determined a boundary with Veronica. It’s not pleasant. She’s unhappy. But, we don’t always get what we want. Life offers opportunities for growth. This could be one for us both.
One client was extremely happy with their landing page design. We didn’t have a bunch of client information, but we researched the market and created a landing page which the client said was perfect.
Money is flowing in. It’s moving towards me and my company. It hasn’t stopped, only slowed a bit. The faucet is on and running. He continues to provide.

What activity can you perform that’s comfortable and familiar?

How do you alleviate your stress?

When was the last time you performed that activity?

Be Great. Be Grateful!!!
