In 2007, FIFA released a survey commonly referred to as the Big Count. Of the over 265,000,000 soccer players worldwide, only 113,000 were professional soccer players. That’s a little over four percent.

From introduction, probably in their youth, progressing through the ranks of the sport, high school, college and the like, over 95% did not make it to the professional ranks. The number of professionals that receive awards and accolades are even fewer. This can be said for any sport, hobby, or career.

As an author, I’ve received no awards or accolades. I haven’t been recognized by my peers for an outstanding ability or exceptional sales within my genre. Yet, I remain professional. I write daily. I work on my craft, my ability to express my thoughts succinctly and vividly. It’s my third year writing for a living and I’m still developing.

Awards and recognition are great but what’s in my control is my dedication to my craft. My dedication to my profession.

Today, Thursday, October 22, 2020, I am grateful that:

My desire for professionalism is increasing. Yesterday was challenging on the work front but I’ll continue to push forward with my endeavors. Some days are more challenging than others.

Jane and Nick have a great amount of patience. I was really frustrated with the progress we’d made this month. They remained on tasks and continued to put forth effort.

Albeit slow, we made some progress towards our goals yesterday. Slow progress is still progress.

In your career, how do you express your professionalism?

How do you separate yourself from your colleagues and your competition?

What sets you apart from the crowd?

How can you exhibit more of those attributes?

Be Great. Be Grateful!!!

If you feel this will help you or someone you know, please share to your timeline.
